Chaplain of Louisiana State Penitentiary, Angola, Louisiana:
The Louisiana State Penitentiary was the recipient of a gracious gift from the author of The Jesus Story. Mr. Hammatt came out to the prison and introduced me to his book. I was so moved by this book that I incorporated this book into our orientation as we receive a new inmate at Angola. The book presents the message of salvation in a simple but powerful way. I felt like it was the greatest resource available to present the gospel to each new inmate that arrives at this prison.

Today, when we receive new inmates they are met by one of our inmate ministers. The inmate minister reads the book to the inmate and then gives him a copy of The Jesus Story . The inmate is encouraged to read this book to his children or his family when they come to Angola to visit him.

The Jesus Story was also placed in all of our visiting areas. The children of our inmates have this book available to read while they visit with their daddy. We will only know the real results of this book in the lives of our people in eternity.

God Bless You, Robert Toney

From Christine in Illinois:
“Don't forget to tell your friends that a little 7 year old boy, listened to his Mom read the book and the next day, said, "Mommy, I want to ask Jesus to live in my heart." That's the most exciting news a Mother could ever hear! “

Don and his Grandchildren:
When initially telling the story to John, he had a bad sinus infection. When I told about Jesus opening eyes and ears he stopped me saying; “Poppa, Poppa, He opened noses too?” I assured him that yes, Jesus did open noses also. After telling the story to John and Lindsey over several weeks, they both invited Jesus into their lives. The book did not exist at this time, March, 2001, John had just turned 4 and Lindsey was not quite 3. Today, they are both completely confident that Jesus Christ is alive in them.

In December of 2002, I was keeping John George, another of my grandchildren who was four years old at that time. I read him The Jesus Story. When I finished the book, I simply asked him: “John George, did you want to invite Jesus into your heart today?” He then said, “Yes, Grandpa” and then without my saying anything else, this child said, “Jesus, please come into my heart.” I am confident that our God hears the voices of small children who ask with complete faith and that He does respond.

From Cheryl in Baton Rouge, Louisiana:
Mr. Hammatt, I used your book to share the plan of salvation with my children at church, and two of my boys asked Jesus into their heart. Awesome! Thanks for allowing God to use you in an awesome way.

From April in Tinley Park, Illinois:
On Sunday morning I brought my copy of The Jesus Story to Church to share with my first and second grade Sunday school children. After we did the regular morning Sunday school lesson I told them I had a book to read to them and they excitedly gathered around.

I paid special attention to their reactions to the pictures as I read, and pointed out different things, like the little ones peeking around the corner at Jesus healing someone, and how gentle he looked with the children in the story. They were really drawn in to what they were seeing and hearing. The expressions on their faces said it all. I have taught Sunday school forabout twenty years now and I know when my kids are interested and when I'm losing them. They were definitely interested and even visibly moved.

The expressions changed dramatically when I turned to the page where Jesus was being beaten. They seemed to "feel" genuine sadness. They listened attentively throughout the entire book. Praise God, one little girl even climbed up into my lap at the end of the story and wanted to pray to ask Jesus into her life.

From Amanda - Missionary in Guatemala :
The Jesus Story / Jesus In Me book was given to me just before we moved to the mission field this past June and has been such a blessing to us and the children. The simplicity of the story of Jesus put with detailed photos catches the attention of it's audience every time it is read.To watch the faces of the children as the story progresses to the last pages is truly a fullfilling experience, knowing they are hearing God's life changing message and feeling it in their hearts as well.

Thank you again for obeying the call to get God's Word out into all the world. And my prayers are for this little book to make it into the hands of many! Today a little boy wandered up to the house and peeked through the fence... so me and the boys went and asked him if he had ever heard the story of Jesus, to which he answered no. So we read him a book about Jesus' birth, life, death and resurrection! The little boy listened with big eyes... I told him I have more books about Jesus if he wants to come again and hear them, we will see what happens!

I wanted to share that as a family we had the opportunity to give out about the first 50 books. We walked through the neighborhood and passed out a book to each child in every home as Christmas gifts from Jesus! Each book was received with glorious smiles and squeals of delight as without a doubt those books will be the only Christmas gifts any of these children will receive this holiday.

From David Varner - Missionary - His Hands International :
Don I wanted to thank you again for the books and video you provided for His Hands International and our mission in Guatemala. I apologize for not getting back to you sooner. We gave out most of the booklets and showed the DVD, we had at least a dozen or so children make a profession of faith! And many other seeds were planted to be watered by our ministry team in Guatemala.

This is an awesome tool for Child Evangelism and Discipleship after a child makes a decision to follow Christ. It is easy to use, and easy for a child to understand.

From Mark Cole - Student Pastor
Istrouma Baptist Church ; Baton Rouge, Louisiana :

While in Puerto Rico, God opened the doors for us to engage a local school through the classrooms. The Jesus Story / Jesus In Me books gave us a concise and effective way to engage across cultures. Romans 10:17 says, “Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ. “ What an amazing experience to watch this play out in front of our eyes! Seeing kids embrace and accept the hope of Christ and the joy of being able to walk students through words and pictures showing the reality of Jesus was tremendous. And to be able to send each child home with a book, a book in which we watched them read to their parents, and siblings...was very special. The Jesus Story / Jesus In Me books were not only a great asset for ministry but a difference maker for the kingdom!

You can see the books in use in this video that was taken during Summer 2011 Student Mission Trip to Puerto Rico.

From Tom and Georgia Klebau - Missionaries - Mexico Missions :
We have been blessed for about three years to be able to give to others Spanish booklets about Jesus. The booklets have gone to many places where servants of the Lord Jesus were to present the gospel to children and adults alike.

+Just recently they have gone to children in the streets in Ensenada, Mexico. An afternoon program for the homeless children was used to present the gospel and given a booklet to keep. + Booklets have gone to orphanages in Baja, Oaxaca, Tijuana, Michoacan, and to Mexicali to bring the salvation message to little ones. The booklets have been used in several vacation Bible school and adult class where they can't read.

+Since this summer the booklets are being used in the state of Sinaloa in the migrate working camps. There is between 200,000 and 300,000 people in these camps. This area is the breadbasket of Mexico and also drug capitol of the nation. Children are hungry for the word of God and these booklets are being used to bring life and hope to a very desperate area.

+Thank you for providing the tools that have brought life, hope and love to some hopeless places. In heaven you will meet people whose lives were changed because you cared to give booklets in Jesus name. - September 2010

From Dorothy Rockett :
We gave these books to our grandson when he was a preschooler. We were so blessed to witness his baptism in our church (IBC) in August. These are good "starter" books.

From Drew and Lili Steeples - Missionaries - Asia Hope :
300 Kids were at a Neighborhood Kids Outreach in Cambodia. Yesterday, half of them got to hear The Jesus Story in their language of Khmer for the first time. Thank you Don Hammatt for listening to God and writing such a wonderful book. - December 2011
